Plot: What’s it about?

A good controller is crucial for gamers, as it is how you do what you do on screen. While first party controllers are great, they don’t always offer the extras a third party controller can. But finding the right one can be rough, since the market is flooded with all kinds of offerings. I’ve tried numerous controllers over the years for my X-Box 360, but I can safely say that I have now found the right one. Power A’s Air Flo controller is hands down the best third party controller I have ever used on 360. The sole drawback is that it is wired, but for 360 users, that is standard for third party controllers. But the Air Flo offers enough positives to make you forget that one small complaint. The controller is well designed and close to the original, but with some nice chances for a smoother hold. The hand grips offer a softer, but also more solid grasp. This makes those marathon sessions easier than ever, since you’re not just holding hard plastic the entire time.

As the name should suggest, the Air Flo also offers an air circulation system, to keep your hands cooled down. The vents are well placed and don’t interfere at all with the controls, so that is a relief. The cooling system features two levels of air flow, one that is light and another that offers a stronger flow. I found the lower setting to be preferable, but having the option for a higher setting is certainly welcome. While you might think this only benefits those gamers with sweaty hands, that isn’t the case. The air flow feels great and helps your hands relax, even in the most intense sessions. For those of you who like bright lights, the Air Flo also sports a nice light-up design, should you need illumination. And while there is a cord, this one is very generous at 10 feet and provides a snap release, in case you rage and yank the cord loose. So with dual rumble motors, an ergonomic design, cool lights, and the innovative cooling system, this is a controller any gamer would love to own. While third party controllers don’t always offer a great experience, Power A’s Air Flo does and is well recommended.

Video: How does it look?

The controller looks great, with a slick design that is right at home with your other 360 products. The design is similar to the original, but features some nice touches to help it stand out. As I said above, you can turn on internal lights that really make the controller shine. This lights up the face buttons, shoulder buttons, and the green air vents, so the controller looks quite awesome when the lights are on.

Audio: How does it sound?

The air vents could have been a distraction, but thankfully the sound isn’t that loud. The low setting is hard to even detect, though you will notice the higher setting. This is a small price to pay however, not to mention that it is still quiet enough to never distract you. So even with a built in cooling unit, this controller is almost always whisper quiet.
